Role: AWS Cloud Architect
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months CTH
Candidates must reside in one of the following states : Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois (excluding Chicago), Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York (excluding New York City), North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania (excluding Philadelphia), South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Washington.

Overview
The Cloud Architect establishes and maintains client AWS cloud environment to ensure security, scalability, operational resilience, and streamlined design across SaaS product architectures. This role provides architectural leadership, participates in governance activities, ensures alignment with AWS best practices, and collaborates with engineering, product, security, and cloud operations teams. The Cloud Architect translates complex requirements into actionable designs while promoting innovation, cost efficiency, and technical excellence across the enterprise.
Required Experience
10+ years of experience in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, or solution architecture.
6+ years of hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native commercial SaaS products.
6+ years of experience designing complex distributed systems and enterprise cloud solutions.
PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT CANDIDATES THAT DO NOT HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE:
This is not an engineer role; this is an AWS Cloud Architect role.
Core Technical Requirements. Experience in: Cloud governance frameworks and operating models. Establishing cloud architecture standards and reference architectures. SaaS platform architecture at enterprise scale. Cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices
Deep AWS experience (not surface-level) – strong understanding of building and operating SaaS products natively in AWS
Proven experience in cloud-native (Greenfield) development – NOT lift-and-shift migrations
Strong background in modernizing legacy systems (e.g., monolith to microservices using the strangler pattern )
Cloud Architecture & Engineering
Experience designing robust, resilient, and highly available systems , especially in regulated environments (healthcare preferred)
Hands-on experience establishing:
Cloud governance frameworks
Security policies
Best practices/standards across teams
Ability to host and operate solutions in customer-owned AWS accounts (multi-account strategy)
Infrastructure & Automation
Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
Proven ability to review and validate IaC code before deployment (governance mindset)
Experience with policy-as-code and automated compliance tools
Preferred: Cloud Custodian (used at NASCO)
Familiar with automation-driven policy verification and enforcement
Engineering Practices
Experience in peer review processes (code reviews, architecture reviews)
Ability to work in environments with:
Large, complex enterprise projects
Strong technical opinions / cross-functional stakeholders
Comfortable influencing and collaborating with multiple architects (matrixed environment)
Operating Environment
Experience in commercial software / product-based organizations (not just internal IT)
Familiarity with SaaS delivery models
Comfortable working across architecture + platform engineering + program layers
Organizational Context
Ability to work closely with:
Architecture teams (8+ architects)
Cloud platform engineers
Program management
Role requires flexibility to support multiple architects and initiatives simultaneously
Required Certification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification or equivalent.
