AWS/EKS Platform Engineer

Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – 1 day onsite per week)

Duration: 12+ Months (Contract to Hire)

10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in AWS Cloud, hands-on Amazon EKS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Python (Boto3), AWS CDK/CloudFormation, Ansible, Linux Administration, CI/CD (Jenkins), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), AWS services (VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, ELB), SRE, AI experience, AWS Certification, and strong leadership in cloud transformation initiatives.

Important Notes

Candidates must currently reside in the Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia (DMV) area.

Must be local to Reston, VA. No relocation candidates will be considered.

Final technical interview will be conducted onsite in Reston, VA.

US work authorization required

Required Qualifications

Minimum 10+ years of IT experience.

Minimum 5+ years of hands-on AWS Cloud experience.

Minimum 1 AWS Certification (required).

Strong Platform Engineering and AWS Administration experience.

Hands-on production experience with Amazon EKS .

Direct Connect

Security Groups

Subnets

NACLs

Strong experience with:

Terraform

CloudFormation

AWS CDK

Ansible

Python

Boto3

Linux Bash scripting

Experience with Kubernetes and containerization.

Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.

Experience with Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Crucible, and Artifactory.

Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Policy as Code.

Strong Linux System Administration background.

Experience with cloud migration and modernization initiatives.

Experience implementing SRE principles.

AI experience is required.

Strong leadership and mentoring experience.

Preferred Skills

Azure Cloud exposure.

Middleware platform engineering experience.

Enterprise cloud transformation experience.

Experience building fault-tolerant, highly available cloud-native applications.

Strong networking knowledge.
