Business Data Architect – Epic Cogito & Clarity
Type: Contract – W2
Industry: Healthcare
Location: 100% Remote
Hours: EST business hours
Candidate Location: Open to non-locals (must agree to EST schedule)
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years in data warehousing, designing multi-layered data warehouses and data marts using relational and dimensional modeling
8+ years integrating data at both logical & physical levels
8+ years working with multiple DBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Teradata, etc.)
Strong understanding of Epic Cogito & Clarity data models
Proven ability to translate business needs into data solutions
Strong knowledge of Data Governance , data lineage, and metadata management
Proficiency with data modeling tools (Erwin, Toad, etc.)
Strong project management skills
Excellent written and oral communication; assertive yet diplomatic
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
Experience documenting technical and business requirements
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience with SQL, R, or Python for data manipulation and statistical analysis
Epic Cogito PM certification
Master's degree in a quantitative or technical field
Education & Certifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in Health Science, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Business, or related field
Preferred: Master's degree
Required Certification: Epic Clarity data model certification (clinical or financial)
Role Overview
The Business Data Architect blends data architecture, business architecture, and business analysis to support enterprise-wide analytics initiatives. This role is critical in evaluating current Epic build records, identifying impacts on existing dashboards, and guiding the design and implementation of Epic Radar dashboards or updates.
You will act as a bridge between business operations, IT, and reporting teams , ensuring data management principles align with organizational goals. This includes leading discovery sessions, documenting business/functional requirements, and creating data models that support clinical and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Track Epic build records and assess impact on dashboards
Partner with analysts, clinicians, and developers to gather requirements
Compare and analyze current vs. target-state data models and database designs
Create deliverables such as business process maps, requirements documentation, data lineage, and architecture decision documents
Present findings and remediation recommendations to leadership
Ensure proactive, frictionless adoption of process and data changes within the Epic ecosystem
Support the design, build, and implementation of Epic solutions aligned with enterprise data strategy
