Title: Data Engineer
Location: 12+ Month Contract
Location: Hybrid (3 days in Maryland Heights, MO) / REMOTE

Job Description:
Business Drivers:
Large assessment requires additional staff to meet deadlines. If they don't hire, they won't meet these goals.
Focus on enhancing data warehouse capabilities and automation to increase efficiency.
Project Status:
much of the data warehouse is complete; remaining work needed to centralize data and support business functions.
New hires will help build pipelines and improve data automation.
First three months will be finishing up a project automating actuary tasks from excel to Snowflake
Technical Requirements:
SQL, Python and Snowflake are big.
Snowflake experience is highly preferred- if they come in with this it's great. If not, the team can help get up to speed. Intermediate SQL and Python skills are a must

Team Description (Size, Tenure, Function) & Day-to-Day Snapshot
JOB SUMMARY:
Primarily responsible for the development and ongoing support of data engineering processes. Will also contribute toward the development and ongoing support of our Next Generation Data Warehouse.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Takes direction from the Lead Data Engineer and Data Architect. Collaborates with business analysts and project managers, along with internal customers, to understand the needs and develop solutions according to business requirements. Follows development strategies and best practices determined by the team.
Works closely with Data Governance and Data Quality teams to ensure all development implementations meet overarching governance needs and quality standards. Supports the organization's Agile practices with previous SAFe experience preferred.
Leverages intermediate ANSI SQL skills to promote the development and implementation of solutions in our
Snowflake and SQL Server environments.
Open to learning Python and Git to support the furthering of modern data engineering in our enterprise. Open to learning SSIS and SQL Server Agent to support legacy processes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Document program and technical procedures to insure integrity and accuracy of information.
Qualifications

Education/Experience (Must meet at least two of the following criteria):
-
A Bachelor's degree (Preferred: Computer Science, Information Systems, or any Technical/Engineering degree)

A minimum of 5 years working experience in I.S. or related field
-
Possess five or more approved certifications within job area.

Experience in any of the following tools/platforms preferred:
-
Databases: Snowflake, MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL
-
Data Integration: Qlik Replicate/Compose, SSIS, Informatica
-
Cloud: Azure, AWS, GCS
-
BI: PowerBI, Tableau, SSRS
-
MDM: Microsoft Master Data Services, Alation
-
Demonstrated qualities and skills:
-
Working knowledge of database architecture and ANSI SQL
-
Understanding of cloud technologies and implementations of such capabilities
-
Driven by desire to learn new tools and technologies
-
Excellent computer skills, problem-solving skills and communication skills

Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently

Must have tact and diplomacy in maintaining cooperative relationships

Detail-oriented with a desire for quality
