Mainframe Storage Administrator

Degree required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

The ideal candidate has over 16 years of experience managing advanced technology or service projects, overseeing the full systems engineering lifecycle, and developing implementation and integration plans, test plans, and training materials.

Mainframe Storage Administrator for an on-site role in Washington, DC.

Position Description: The Senior Mainframe Storage Administrator shall have 8+ years of experience managing and maintaining the storage systems for IBM System Z. Responsibilities include managing storage allocation, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery fail-over protocols.

Position Responsibilities:

Leads the adoption or implementation of an advanced technology or platform.

Expert on the functionality or usage of a particular system, platform, or technology product.

Serves as a consultant to clients, guiding the efficient use or adoption of a particular IT product or platform.

Creates implementation, testing, and/or integration plans.

Demonstrates expertise in a particular IT platform or service, allowing for maximum IT investment.

Required Skills:

Extensive knowledge of IBM z/OS system software, IBM utilities, and 3rd party software.

Extensive knowledge working with IBM, Dell/EMC, and Hitachi disks.

Extensive knowledge of managing local and remote replication, initialization, and full volume backup/archive/restore.

Extensive knowledge working with tape silos (automatic tape libraries).

Extensive knowledge of IBM and CA virtual tape storage.

Minimum Education/ Certification Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience

Training or certification in a particular product or IT platform/service, as required
