Oracle DBA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We have a role for an Oracle DBA. The role is a multi year contract, remote but they want candidates who already live local to Austin in case there is some hybrid work later.

MUST HAVE SKILLS

8 years | Infrastructure management with Oracle 19c or higher

8 years | Grid Infrastructure — ASM and Clusterware (must be role-attributed)

8 years | High Availability — GoldenGate AND Active Data Guard

8 years | Advanced scripting — Linux shell + SQL

PREFERRED SKILLS

4 years | Public sector experience (Federal, State, or Local Government)

2 years | Experience with a hosting vendor

2 years | Oracle PeopleSoft

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Hands-on Oracle 19c → 23ai upgrade experience (primary project deliverable)

• Availability for work outside standard business hours

• Must pass pre-employment security review

• No FOCI (Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence) concerns

• Remote position; may become hybrid — confirm location/availability

LEVEL: Senior — 8+ years. Relies on experience and judgment; independently performs complicated tasks; wide degree of creativity and latitude expected. Must be able to maintain security and integrity of critical infrastructure systems; ensure compliance with national security and foreign ownership restrictions.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

• Design and execute Oracle database upgrades from Oracle 19c to Oracle 23ai

• Maintain multiple database environments supporting concurrent ERP implementations and upgrades

• Maintain ETL-supporting database environments

• Grid Infrastructure setup and maintenance (ASM, Clusterware)

• Performance tuning and monitoring of production Oracle databases

• Security vulnerability compliance and patching

• High-availability setup and maintenance (GoldenGate, Active Data Guard)

• Disaster recovery procedure monitoring and execution

• Data modeling (logical and physical); design of relational database models

• Database security implementation, standards enforcement, and monitoring

• Maintains data dictionary; sets and enforces standards for data definitions

• Creates and manages test database environments including libraries and procedures

• Assists in benchmarking and threshold testing

• Assists in selection of database management software

• Answers user questions; provides technical assistance to users

• Ensures EIR Accessibility compliance for database user interfaces and reporting outputs
