About the role
Title: Senior Cloud Engineer
Location: 216 Mass Avenue, Boston, MA 02115 –they are by the Christian Science Plaza and Library. Parking is not available and comes at a monthly cost direct to contractor.
Interview Process: They are doing MS Teams video interviews
Hours / Shift: (40 hours)
Note:
This role is hybrid, with 3 days onsite in Boston , MA expected - make sure its a commutable distance that they are willing to make with other life commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure Management: Architect, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments, ensuring high availability and scalability.
Cloud Networking: Design and configure cloud network components including VPCs, VPNs, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, Load Balancers, Firewalls, and Transit Gateways.
Cloud Security Hardening: Implement security best practices, harden cloud environments, and conduct regular security reviews. Manage identity and access management (IAM) and secure data across various services.
Cloud Cost Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize cloud resources to reduce operational costs. Recommend best practices for cost savings, including instance right-sizing, storage optimization, and efficient network usage.
Automation & DevOps: Automate infrastructure deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
Monitoring & Performance: Implement and manage cloud monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics) to ensure optimal system performance and uptime. Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues as they arise.
Compliance & Governance: Ensure all cloud infrastructure complies with industry standards, internal policies, and best practices regarding security, data protection, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST 800-171).
Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps, Security, and Application teams to ensure the seamless integration of infrastructure with application deployments and security protocols.
Cloud Strategy & Roadmaps: Contribute to the development and execution of cloud strategies, roadmaps, and guidelines for long-term infrastructure scalability and innovation.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud engineering with a strong focus on AWS and Azure environments.
Cloud Networking Expertise: Demonstrable experience with cloud networking components such as VPCs, VPNs, firewalls, and Load Balancers in cloud environments (AWS and Azure).
Security Hardening: Strong experience in cloud security hardening, including IAM management, encryption, network security configurations, and compliance adherence.
Cost Optimization: Proven track record of implementing cloud cost optimization strategies across multiple cloud services and environments.
Automation & IaC Tools: Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, or equivalent.
Scripting & Automation: Solid scripting and automation experience using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.
Monitoring & Incident Response: Experience with cloud monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) and incident response protocols.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent .
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with multi-cloud environments and hybrid cloud architectures.
