System Engineer

Responsibilities

• Deploy and configure Windows Server systems across enterprise hardware and virtual environments

• Install, administer, and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems via command line

• Configure and troubleshoot networking components including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and interfaces

• Deploy and manage virtual machines using Microsoft Hyper-V and related technologies

• Execute and troubleshoot PowerShell and Bash scripts for automation and system administration

• Perform system validation, testing, and troubleshooting across environments

• Support system patching, updates, and security hardening efforts

• Evaluate system security posture and assist with vulnerability remediation

• Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and deployment guides

• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support infrastructure across multiple environments

• Interface directly with end users and stakeholders to resolve technical issues

• Required Qualifications & Skills

• 4+ years of experience in systems administration, engineering, or infrastructure support

• Experience supporting Windows Server environments

• Experience working with Linux systems (RHEL preferred) via command line

• Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V or similar)

• Experience with scripting (PowerShell and/or Bash)

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)

• Experience troubleshooting system performance, logs, and configuration issues

• Experience with system patching, updates, and security practices

• Strong communication skills and ability to work in team-oriented environments

• Ability to work in a travel-heavy role (approx. 70%)

• Security & Certifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance (Highly preferred) or ability to obtain one after hire

• Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Familiarity with DISA STIG or security/compliance frameworks

• Exposure to Helm, microservices, or modern infrastructure environments

• Experience working in fast-paced, growth-oriented technical environments
