Position Overview

Seeking a skilled Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and support of desktop virtualization solutions. This role focuses on enabling secure, scalable access to operating systems and applications through networked servers or cloud-based environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design and support Azure Managed Services operations with a focus on performance and reliability.

Manage Azure Active Directory and authentication services.

Oversee Azure update and patch management processes.

Work with core Azure services such as App Service, SQL, and Storage Accounts.

Configure and manage cloud networking components including load balancers, DNS, virtual networks, NSGs, and firewalls.

Develop ARM templates and automate resource provisioning.

Utilize Azure Automation and Desired State Configuration (DSC) for system management.

Ensure high availability and auto-scaling of cloud infrastructure.

Manage Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery (ASR) solutions.

Monitor system performance using Azure Monitoring and OMS.

Deploy and manage Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) environments in Azure.

Use deployment tools like Kaseya, SCCM, or similar platforms.

Package applications and manage App-V deployments.

Support migration efforts using various tools and methodologies.

Maintain virtual machines and containers.

Apply DISA STIGs to secure network and security devices.

Evaluate COTS/GOTS products and provide recommendations.

Design highly available systems and data structures.

Develop tools to deliver critical data to end users efficiently.

Build analytics to support cybersecurity use cases across strategic, operational, and tactical levels.

Maintain regular communication with executives, stakeholders, and end users regarding network activities.

Lead and manage a team of network analysts and technicians, including performance management.

Collaborate with leadership and users to define business needs and align network architecture plans.

Oversee the design, maintenance, and evaluation of network infrastructure including LANs, WANs, VMs, wireless, and security systems.

Conduct feasibility studies for upgrades and system improvements.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in strategic network architecture and operations.

10+ years designing enterprise LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, VMs, and virtual networks.

Deep understanding of modern networking protocols and standards.

Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell.

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Expertise in scalable systems design and network performance optimization.

Advanced knowledge of WAN, LAN, and Wi-Fi technologies.

Solid understanding of IT security principles and experience in secure environments.

Familiarity with Lean IT methodologies.

Experience with ITIL frameworks.

Understanding of system flowcharts, data processing, and traffic flow concepts.

Knowledge of data privacy laws and best practices.

Proven ability to develop strategic IT plans.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Clear understanding of organizational goals and how IT supports them.

Experience in network capacity planning, security, and best practices.

Education & Certifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or equivalent experience (15+ years).

Azure or VMware Workspace/Horizon certification is required.
