About the role
Role Overview: You will be leading the development of future technology platforms and driving breakthrough innovation within a leading global engineering materials organization. This strategic leadership role will involve identifying emerging technologies, building innovation ecosystems, and creating sustainable competitive advantage through advanced materials and next-generation product platforms. The position is based in Maharashtra, approximately 450 kms from Mumbai. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the development of future technology platforms across various areas including Advanced Engineering Plastics, Functional Materials, Smart Materials, Sustainable Materials, and more. - Develop and manage a robust intellectual property portfolio, drive patent generation and filing activities, conduct technology landscaping and competitive patent analysis, and build processes to protect proprietary technologies and know-how. - Establish partnerships with universities, research institutions, and technology centers, identify disruptive technologies through startup and innovation ecosystems, and build collaborations with strategic industry partners and technology providers. - Develop sustainable material platforms and environmentally responsible solutions, drive initiatives related to renewable materials, recyclability, and circular economy, and support ESG and sustainability objectives through innovation. - Identify new business opportunities and adjacent markets, conduct technical feasibility assessments, develop proof-of-concept programs and pilot initiatives, and support commercialization of breakthrough innovations. - Establish innovation governance frameworks and stage-gate systems, prioritize investments across innovation projects, monitor portfolio performance and innovation outcomes, and drive disciplined innovation management processes. - Build and lead a high-performing innovation team, mentor scientists, engineers, and innovation professionals, foster a culture of experimentation, learning, and collaboration, and develop future technology leadership capability within the organization. Qualification Required: - Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline is essential. - Master's Degree (M.Tech/MS) or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field is preferred. - 1520 years of relevant industry experience with at least 10 years in technology leadership, innovation leadership, or advanced product development roles. - Proven experience in developing technology roadmaps and innovation platforms, successful product innovation and commercialization, managing global innovation programs and cross-functional teams, and exposure to developed markets and global innovation ecosystems.
