Your role and responsibilities This is a DevOps Architect role in Cloud and AI Platform, reporting to the Digital Solutions Engineering Manager within the Process Automation business area, located in Bangalore. You will work closely with Product Delivery, Platform Services, Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Engineering leadership at the Ability Innovation Center (AIC)ABBs largest global technology and engineering hub. AIC brings together research, development, engineering, and services under one roof, enabling high collaboration, accelerated innovation, and uncompromised quality. The work model for the role is: Hybrid Your Responsibilities DevOps CI/CD Architecture Define and own the end-to-end DevOps architecture blueprint for cloud-native and AI-driven platforms. Design scalable, secure, and resilient CI/CD frameworks using Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions for multi-team and multi-product environments. Establish enterprise-grade pipeline standards for build, test, security scanning, artifact management, and deployments. Embed security-by-design principles including SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, and compliance checks across pipelines. Define deployment strategies (rolling, blue-green, canary) to reduce risk, downtime, and mean time to recovery. Drive standardization of pipeline templates, reusable components, and automation libraries across teams. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Cloud Architecture Architect and govern Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for Azure-based platforms. Design modular, reusable, and compliant IaC frameworks aligned with enterprise architecture standards. Define environment strategies (dev/test/stage/prod) with automated provisioning and lifecycle management. Partner with security and cloud teams to ensure adherence to cloud governance, cost optimization, and resilience standards. GitOps Strategy Implementation Define and institutionalize GitOps reference architecture for infrastructure and application deployments. Establish Git-based workflows for Kubernetes, IaC, and platform configurations. Evaluate and implement GitOps tooling (ArgoCD, Flux) at scale. Drive governance models ensuring all infrastructure and configuration changes flow through pull-requestbased approvals. Developer Platform Service Management Architect and lead implementation of a Developer Platform / Internal Developer Portal. Define service ownership models, golden paths, and self-service capabilities for development teams. Integrate the developer portal with CI/CD pipelines, IaC, observability, and documentation systems. Establish role-based access control, authentication, and authorization for platform services. Enable service lifecycle visibilityfrom creation to deployment, operation, and decommissioning. Workflow Automation Platform Engineering Design automated workflows that unify CI/CD, GitOps, IaC, and Developer Portal capabilities. Enable self-service provisioning for services, environments, and infrastructure. Drive consistency, reliability, and velocity through platform engineering best practices. Identify opportunities to reduce toil and operational overhead through intelligent automation. Observability, Monitoring Reporting Architect end-to-end observability including metrics, logs, traces, and deployment insights. Integrate monitoring and reporting into the developer portal for real-time visibility. Enable tracking of deployment history, performance KPIs, SLOs, and reliability metrics. Partner with operations teams to improve incident response and platform availability. Technical Leadership, Education Adoption Act as a technical authority and mentor for DevOps and platform engineering teams. Educate teams on CI/CD, GitOps, IaC, DevSecOps, and developer platform practices. Drive adoption through reference architectures, best practices, and enablement sessions. Foster a culture of collaboration, automation-first mindset, and continuous improvement. Qualification Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. 8-15 years of overall experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Architecture roles. Proven experience designing enterprise-scale CI/CD and DevOps architectures. Strong hands-on expertise with Azure cloud services and DevOps ecosystems. Expert-level experience with Git, branching strategies, and version control governance. Technical Expertise Terraform for enterprise-grade Infrastructure as Code Must Have CI/CD tools: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions Must Have DevSecOps tooling integration: SonarQube, Trivy, MetaDefender Must Have Kubernetes cloud-native deployment patterns Must Have Experience with blue-green, canary, and progressive delivery strategies Good to Have Exposure to GitOps frameworks and tooling Good to Have Strong scripting and automation capabilities (YAML, Bash, Python, etc.) Soft Skills Leadership Excellent architecture documentation and technical communication skills. Ability to translate business and platform goals into technical strategies. Strong collaboration skills across engineering, security, and leadership stakeholders. Proven experience influencing teams and driving organization-wide DevOps maturity.
