About the role
Role Overview: As a Junior Database Administrator specializing in MySQL & PostgreSQL (Monitoring), you will be responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of PostgreSQL and MySQL databases. With around 1 year of hands-on experience, you will work closely with senior DBAs to ensure the databases are running smoothly. Your role is crucial in monitoring database health, availability, and performance across different environments. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the day-to-day administration of MySQL and PostgreSQL databases in development, test, and production environments. - Monitor database health, availability, and performance under the guidance of senior DBAs. - Perform routine DBA tasks such as user and role management, schema changes, and basic maintenance activities. - Review logs and investigate alerts to ensure proper functioning. - Support database start/stop, backups, restores, and basic recovery tasks. - Assist in setting up and maintaining database monitoring. - Configure and tune alerts for critical metrics like CPU, memory, disk usage, database availability, replication health, slow queries, and connection counts. - Analyze alerts, troubleshoot issues, and escalate when necessary. - Work with senior DBAs to enhance alert accuracy and reduce noise. - Maintain monitoring dashboards and generate basic performance reports. Qualifications Required: - 1 year of experience working with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL. - Basic understanding of relational database fundamentals. - Familiarity with Linux operating systems and standard Linux commands. - Basic knowledge of SQL queries (Select, Insert, Update, Delete). - Good problem-solving and communication skills.
