Sr. Engineer/ Lead- Database Administration Job Description: The role involves architecting, designing, developing, and managing scalable database solutions that support business-critical applications and the organization's Data Platform. The candidate will be responsible for optimizing and tuning existing database environments, developing new solutions, ensuring high availability, and enabling data-driven applications. Experience in modern Data Platform and Data Engineering technologies will be an added advantage. Educational Qualifications: B.Tech/B.E in (CS/IT)/ 10th & 12th: 80% and above Job Responsibilities: Key Responsibility Areas: • Architect, design, and develop scalable database solutions to support business requirements. • Analyze, manage, and optimize distributed database environments such as PostgreSQL (preferred), Cassandra, Graph DB, and other relational/NoSQL databases. • Provide optimal database architecture by analyzing complex production deployments and recommending solutions for scalability, performance, reliability, and availability. • Work closely with Engineering, Product, Data Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality platform solutions. • Provide innovative solutions to complex business and technology challenges. • Design logical and physical data models following industry best practices. • Perform database administration activities including capacity planning, performance tuning, backup & recovery, replication, security, Availability. • Lead database migration, modernization, and platform upgrade initiatives. • Drive automation of database operations, deployments, monitoring, and maintenance. • Mentor and train junior engineers while leading and managing database engineering initiatives. • Collaborate with the Data Platform team to enable efficient data pipelines and analytical workloads. Skills Required: Database Administration , RDBMS , NoSQL , PostgreSQL , Cassandra , Graph db , Tuning , Recovery , Back Up , MySQL , Database Development , Performance Tuning Candidate Attributes: Must Have Skills : • Experience in designing and architecting scalable database solutions. • Hands-on experience with multiple RDBMS and NoSQL databases handling TB- scale data, preferably PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and Graph DB. • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, PL/PGSQL, SQL, and query optimization techniques. • Expert knowledge of database installation, configuration, replication, backup & recovery, upgrades, security, clustering, and HA/DR (HADR) setup. • Experience in database deployment, monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and production support. • Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL will be preferred. • Good understanding of data modelling, indexing, partitioning, and database performance optimization. • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Good-To-Have Skills: • Experience with cloud platforms and managed database services (AWS, Azure, or GCP). • Experience in database migration across platforms and cloud environments. • Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration and scripting languages such as Shell, Bash, or Python. • Exposure to automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps practices will be an advantage. • Experience with Data Engineering technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, ETL/ELT pipelines, Data Warehousing, or Big Data technologies will be an added advantage. • Experience with Data Platform architecture and modern data ecosystems will be a plus.
