Thanks for your interest in working on our team! We are currently looking for a highly motivated Laboratory Engineer Advanced Technology (M/F/D) managing the Advanced Technology laboratory in Meiningen.

Principle duties and essential funct ions Responsibility for the organization and operational capability of the laboratory

Setting up experimental assemblies in the laboratory and conducting experiments in the framework of our research on optical transmission systems, sub-systems and distributed fiber sensing with focus on the physical layer

Supporting team members in selecting suitable devices and designing experimental setups

Ensuring reliable measurements (calibration of measurement devices)

Implementing required laser safety measures

Support in national and international projects

Solid knowledge and experience in several of the following fields: Technologies for increasing capacity of optical communication systems (multi-band transmission, space-division multiplexing)

Transmission experiments in laboratory environments

Techniques for monitoring signal quality in optical networks

Joint data communication and distributed fiber sensing

Knowledge, skills and experience required Diploma, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related area

Good programming skills with focus on laboratory automatization

Good knowledge in optical transmission technologies and optical fiber effects

Laboratory experience in optical sub-system and system characterization

Ideally experience in some of the following topics: Coherent optical transmission and optical modulation

Optical amplification and switching

Monitoring of signal quality in an optical network

Good presentation and communication skills

Innovative, highly motivated personality

Fluent written and oral English language skills, fluency in German is a plus
