About the role
Job Description: Role Overview: As a Product Designer II at our fast-growing, consumer-facing technology company, you will join the founding team during a critical phase of hyper-growth. You will have a direct hand in shaping our product ecosystem, design culture, and user experience from day one. You will own product verticals end-to-end and collaborate directly with the Founders, Product Management, and Engineering to transform ambiguous user pain points into highly polished, intuitive, and production-ready digital experiences. Operating in a fast-paced, iterative environment, this role requires a unique blend of strategic product thinking, flawless visual execution, and experience in shipping live, production-grade digital products to real users within a startup environment. Core Responsibilities: - End-to-End Product Design: Lead the entire design lifecycle, including user research, information architecture, wireframing, high-fidelity UI design, prototyping, and developer handoff. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with engineering teams to navigate technical constraints, review builds, and conduct frontend design QA to ensure shipped code matches your design intent. - Feature Strategy: Translate business objectives and complex AI logic into simple, seamless user flows that drive core consumer metrics (engagement, conversion, and retention). - Speed & Quality Balance: Navigate the trade-offs between shipping a scrappy, functional MVP to gather user data versus executing highly polished, pixel-perfect design. Technical & Design Requirements (Must-Haves): 1. UI & Visual Craft - Advanced Visual Hierarchy: Expert-level mastery of typography, spatial layouts, grids, color theory, and contemporary UI design patterns for consumer software. - Micro-interactions & Prototyping: Ability to build high-fidelity, interactive prototypes in Figma to communicate complex states, motion, and transitions to engineering. - Production-Grade Execution: A relentless eye for detail with zero tolerance for broken padding, misalignment, or unhandled edge cases. 2. UX & Product Thinking - Consumer-Centric UX: Proven experience mapping complex, multi-step user journeys (e.g., e-commerce checkouts, onboarding funnels, or interactive personalization flows). - Data & Insight Driven: Ability to ground design decisions in user data, feedback, and behavioral insights rather than personal preference. - Business & MVP Mindset: Strong awareness of how design impacts business levers. Ability to ruthlessly prioritize high-impact features to avoid scope creep in a fast-moving startup environment. 3. Design Systems & Scalability - Figma Architecture: Advanced proficiency with Figma's modern features, including auto-layout, nested components, variants, variables, and design tokens. - Scalability Mindset: Experience building, maintaining, and scaling a centralized, responsive design system that optimizes engineering handoffs and ensures cross-platform consistency (Web, Mobile). Qualifications Required: - 3 to 6 years of professional experience as a Product Designer, UI/UX Designer, or equivalent rolespecifically working on consumer-facing web or mobile applications. - Startup Experience is a Must: A proven track record of thriving in early-to-growth stage startups, managing ambiguity, and working with lean teams. - Shipped Portfolio: A comprehensive portfolio showcasing real, live, production-grade work currently used by consumers. Please include URLs or case studies detailing your exact contribution, constraints faced, and shipped outcomes.
