Senior Data Warehouse Developer

Role Overview: As a Senior Data Warehouse (DWH) Developer specializing in Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL Pool, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining Gold layer data warehouse objects. Your main focus will be on creating performance-optimized tables, views, and stored procedures, as well as executing Silver Gold transformations to support BI, reporting, and data sharing use cases. You will collaborate closely with the DWH Architect and ETL and BI teams to ensure the success of data warehouse projects. Key Responsibilities: - Develop Synapse Dedicated SQL Pool objects, such as tables, views, and stored procedures. - Implement Gold layer schemas according to architectural standards. - Manage schema changes and deployments effectively. - Execute ELT transformations from the Silver layer to the Gold layer using T-SQL. - Apply business rules and aggregation logic for reporting purposes. - Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reconciliation throughout the data warehouse. - Develop high-performance T-SQL queries optimized for MPP execution. - Apply appropriate distribution, indexing, and partitioning strategies to enhance query performance. - Support reporting teams by providing optimized SQL views and datasets. - Implement Azure Data Share mappings for external data consumers. - Develop downstream export logic and data extracts as required. - Perform data validation and reconciliation checks. - Support production deployments and resolve any related issues. - Adhere to coding standards and version control best practices. Qualifications Required: - 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in data warehouse development. - Strong experience in building Gold layer warehouses in MPP environments. - Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL Pool. - Proficiency in T-SQL with experience in developing views and stored procedures. - Knowledge of performance tuning in MPP systems. - Experience with ELT-based data transformations. - Familiarity with data sharing and downstream export patterns. - Experience in SQL deployment and version control. - Familiarity with SQL pipelines or orchestration tools. - Strong data validation and testing skills. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to work independently on complex SQL workloads. - Good collaboration and communication skills.
