Could you be the full-time Bogie Transmission Engineer (Gearbox & Coupling) in Bengaluru we’re looking for? Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your gearbox and coupling design expertise in a new, cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside knowledgeable and collaborative teammates.

You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and validating gearboxes and couplings for bogie applications, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams such as the Bogie Integration Team, Validation, Test Center, Quality, Purchasing, Industrialization, and Assembly Production teams. You’ll also liaise with international customers and suppliers, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of gearbox design calculations, technical validation plans, and supplier coordination, but also oversee manufacturing specifications and warranty issue resolutions.

We’ll look to you for:

Performing gearbox design calculations, including gears and bearings, and coordinating with FEA for housing calculations

Defining space envelope requirements and preparing technical specifications for gearboxes and couplings

Reviewing engineering drawings and 3D models

Optimizing the cost of product development and implementation

Ensuring compliance with contractual technical requirements and technical performance

Coordinating and validating gearbox and coupling testing at supplier facilities

Inspecting gearbox and coupling parts and assemblies at supplier sites

Collaborating with customers for design approval and technical clarifications

Leading and completing localization projects for bogie gearboxes and couplings

Resolving warranty issues and implementing continuous improvement measures

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute

Minimum 10 years of experience in gearbox design and development (railway gearbox experience is a plus)

Expertise in gearbox and coupling design principles

Proficiency in mechanical calculations and engineering tools

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards

Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent communication skills; fluent in English (written and spoken)

Agile, inclusive, and responsible mindset with leadership qualities

Familiarity with international standards and validation methodologies

Hands-on experience with supplier audits and technical negotiations
