At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Control Engineer (f/m/d) in Vienna we’re looking for?

Your Future Role

From Vienna to the world: our Viennese site is a global competence center for trams and light rail vehicles. 720 colleagues develop and manufacture the Flexity™ tram for worldwide customers from Austria to Australia. Our product line Rolling Stock & Components offers products from the broadest portfolio in the rail industry. Our innovation focus is on green and smart solutions, including emission-free propulsion systems such as batteries and hydrogen. You’ll report to Train System Domain Leader and work alongside a dedicated and enthusiastic team.

As a Control Engineer, you will be responsible for executing control engineering activities across one or more functions—from system architecture to detailed specifications, interface definitions, and logical diagrams. We’ll look for you to:

Design and specify control solutions (low voltage and software) aligned with customer requirements

Deliver engineering outputs including Functional Specifications, Electrical Schemes, Software Specs, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)

Collaborate with System Engineers, Subsystem Managers, and the Train Control project team

Manage and resolve Change Requests (CRs) related to your function

Support supplier interface tests, train integration, and validation activities

Promote standardization and reuse of reference functions across projects

Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement within the EDU

All About You

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

Functional engineering experience in rolling stock

Electrical and schematic design experience

1–2 years in electrical, electromechanical, or automation (PLC) engineering

Familiarity with industrial communication networks (Serial, Ethernet, MVB)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Customer-focused mindset

Fluent in English and German
