Principal Database Administrator

You will be joining Veradigm's Cloud Database Operations team as an Azure/AWS Cloud Principal DBA. Your expertise will be crucial in transforming and supporting Azure/AWS database technologies, primarily SQL Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake. As a team player in a small DB Operations/DevOps group, you will be involved in architecting, designing, building, scaling, and supporting RDBMS cloud platforms. Collaborating with DevOps, Data Architecture, and Engineering teams, you will contribute to delivering solutions and driving change to support the company's mission. As a Principal level member, you will be responsible for driving initiatives end-to-end. Key Responsibilities: - Utilize your knowledge to facilitate the business's transition to the cloud. - Work with engineering teams to gather infrastructure and database platform requirements and translate them into functional solutions within the Azure database cloud. - Ensure continuous availability of mission-critical systems. - Manage all aspects of Azure/AWS databases, instances, and storage supporting cloud platforms. - Handle day-to-day operational aspects of the systems. - Collaborate as part of a Database DevOps team to automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform. - Perform performance monitoring and tuning. - Implement HA/DR strategies, backup strategies, and query tuning. - Design, provision, and monitor cloud instances/storage performance. - Manage on-prem to cloud migrations. - Automate routine tasks using scripts and open-source tools. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. - Minimum of 5 years of experience leading projects related to architecting and provisioning AWS/Azure SQL Server infrastructure and database instances in IaaS and PaaS environments. - Proven decision-making experience in Azure design, infrastructure, and strategic directions. - Solid expertise in designing, implementing, supporting, and scaling the SQL Server stack. - Experience leading complex database-related initiatives. Ideal Additional Experience: - Experience with large, high-volume, mission-critical SaaS environments. - Knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB. - Proficiency in AWS and Azure SQL instance design, sizing, and implementation. - Expertise in Terraform, scripting, and Linux system administration. - Strong problem-solving skills and detail-oriented approach. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and tackle new challenges. - Experience working in an Agile or Scrum Environment.
