Job Description Electrode Engineer (Li-Ion Battery Manufacturing) Role Summary The Electrode Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining electrode manufacturing processes for lithium-ion battery production. The role focuses on slurry mixing, coating, drying, calendaring, slitting, and electrode quality to achieve production, yield, and performance targets while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Monitor and optimize electrode manufacturing processes, including slurry mixing, coating, drying, calendaring, slitting, and vacuum drying. Develop and maintain process parameters, SOPs, and work instructions to ensure stable and efficient production. Analyze process data to improve yield, productivity, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Collaborate with Production, Quality, Equipment, Maintenance, R&D, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to improve process capability and product performance. Support process validation, equipment qualification, and new product introduction (NPI) activities. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies. Monitor key manufacturing KPIs, including yield, scrap, defect rates, cycle time, and process capability. Ensure compliance with quality standards, EHS requirements, and manufacturing procedures. Support factory ramp-up, capacity expansion, and process optimization initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred. Experience Engineer: 3–5 years of experience in electrode manufacturing or process engineering within lithium-ion battery manufacturing. Senior Engineer: 5–8 years of experience with proven expertise in electrode process optimization and continuous improvement. Candidates from advanced manufacturing industries with relevant experience in slurry mixing, coating, roll-to-roll processing, or industrial coating technologies may also be considered. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of electrode manufacturing processes, including slurry preparation, coating, drying, calendaring, slitting, and vacuum drying. Familiarity with electrode materials such as cathode, anode, binders, conductive additives, and solvents. Experience with SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, CAPA, and other quality tools. Proficiency in MES, ERP systems, and data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, or Power BI. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
