About the role
You will be working in Amazon's Last Mile Team, specifically in the Last Mile Science team. Your role will involve designing and improving the complex planning of delivery networks globally. The Last Mile team focuses on building solutions to attract drivers, companies, and assets to deliver Amazon's and other shippers' volumes efficiently and with the best customer experience. Key Responsibilities: - Develop solutions to manage and optimize delivery capacity in the last mile network - Utilize research experience in Operations Research or Machine Learning to identify opportunities to enhance algorithms and optimize system policies - Quickly approach ambiguous problems, create mathematical models, identify solution approaches, and contribute to software development for production systems - Independently mine and analyze data, use necessary programming and statistical analysis software - Thrive in fast-paced environments, collaborate on problem-solving, measure risks, critique peer research, and align research with Amazon's strategic needs - Coach and mentor junior scientists in the team Qualifications Required: - PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of quantitative field research experience - Experience applying scientific principles to business problems - Proficiency in R, MATLAB, Python, or similar scripting language - Familiarity with agile development and building web-based dashboards using common frameworks Amazon's Last Mile Science team offers an opportunity to work on challenging problems in the supply chain industry alongside top product managers, scientists, and software engineers.
