Founding CTO (AI Startup)

Role Overview: As the founding CTO at Applied Retention, you will be responsible for owning the technical vision and the platform end to end. This includes designing systems to extract customer data, developing the decisioning engine for personalized customer experiences, and overseeing the execution of these decisions. Your role will involve making foundational decisions, coding the core product, and leading the engineering team. Key Responsibilities: - Architect and build the core platform, including data pipelines, data transformation using AI/ML, and marketing data delivery through APIs - Make foundational decisions such as architecture, technology stack, build vs. buy considerations, and prioritization of features - Develop integrations with customer warehouses, CRMs, and CEPs - Ensure reliability, security, and scalability as the customer base and data volume expand - Recruit and lead engineering team members - Collaborate with the founder on roadmap, product design, and technical strategy Qualifications Required: - 5-8 years of experience in shipping production-grade software - Previous experience in Senior Backend/Data Engineering or Architect roles - Deep expertise in Python, FASTAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, and AWS - Strong background in systems and backend engineering, including distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure - Ability to write code and understand ML and data concepts to architect products based on decisioning models - Comfortable in ambiguous situations with full ownership and leadership capabilities - Experience hiring senior engineers, leading teams, and setting technical direction Company Details: Applied Retention is a Mumbai-based AI startup focused on developing an AI-powered customer intelligence and decisioning platform to revolutionize marketing strategies.
