Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server & PostgreSQL)

Job Description Role Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server as the primary database, along with hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience. The role is primarily focused on supporting enterprise-scale production of database environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, stability, and performance of mission-critical systems. The candidate will be responsible for database administration, production support, incident management, root cause analysis, performance tuning, automation, backup & recovery, and high availability management. Strong hands-on experience in SQL Server Always on Availability Groups, PostgreSQL streaming replication, Azure cloud environments, and Python scripting for operational tooling, automation, and integrations is mandatory. This role will support APAC business hours and may require participation in rotational on-call support for critical production incidents. Exposure to MySQL administration and additional HA/DR technologies will be considered an added advantage. Primary Skills (Must Have Skills) Strong hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server Administration Hands-on PostgreSQL Administration experience Experience supporting enterprise-scale production database environments Expertise in SQL Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, Backup & Recovery, Database Monitoring, Incident Management, and Production Support Mandatory experience in SQL Server Always On Availability Groups Experience in Patroni streaming replication backup/WAL archiving is preferred Hands-on cloud experience is mandatory Azure strongly preferred; AWS / Oracle Cloud acceptable Experience in DB PaaS platforms like Azure SQL, Azure PostgreSQL is preferred Strong Python scripting experience focused on database automation, tooling, operational tasks, and integrations Experience with PowerShell and T-SQL scripting Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and incident resolution skills Experience working in mission-critical production support environments Secondary Skills: (Good to Have) MySQL Administration Exposure to DevOps practices and infrastructure automation tools Relevant cloud or database certifications Qualifications And Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities Ability to work in fast-paced enterprise production support environments Experience handling critical production incidents and RCA activities Comfortable supporting APAC business hours and rotational on-call support activities Self-driven and proactive mindset toward automation and operational improvements Additional Notes This is primarily a production support-focused DBA role with secondary responsibilities in automation and operational enhancements. Work model: Office-based / Work from Office. Python scripting is required primarily for operational automation and tooling purposes.
