About the role
Graduate / Postgraduate (BE / BTech or ME / MTech) in Civil Structural Engineering from a reputed University / Institute with a minimum CGPA of 7 out of 10. The applicant should have hands on work experience in FEED / Detailed engineering level of Civil Engineering as follows: CAD and Design Work: Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and actively participating in design tasks, such as drafting plans and creating models for typical civil and structural components with a petrochemical facility or marine infrastructure. Familiarity with design of equipment foundations, AST foundations, drainage systems, pipeline supports and sleepers, process skids, etc. Field Inspections: Involved in site visits and field inspections of construction activities for oil, gas and chemical plants and verify compliance with design specifications and safety standards. Geotechnical Investigations: Assisting in or being exposed to geotechnical investigations, soil sampling, and laboratory testing to support foundation design and site preparation. Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Assisted with cost estimation and budgeting tasks to understand the financial aspects of engineering projects. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Participating in resolving technical challenges and troubleshooting issues that arise during project implementation. Responsibilities: Design Support: Assist senior civil engineers in preparing detailed designs and drawings for onshore and coastal infrastructure, including pipelines, storage tanks, foundations, piling and platforms, using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D. Analysis and Calculations: Perform basic structural analysis and calculations to ensure the stability and integrity of civil engineering components, considering relevant design codes and standards. Field Inspections: Participate in site visits and field inspections to observe construction activities, verify compliance with design specifications, and monitor construction progress. Geotechnical Investigations: Support geotechnical investigations by assisting in soil sampling, laboratory testing, and evaluating geotechnical data to aid foundation design and site preparation. Data Analysis and Reporting: Assist in gathering and analysing engineering data, prepare technical reports, and contribute to project progress updates and documentation. Construction Support: Provide support during the construction phase by coordinating with contractors, reviewing construction plans, and assisting with quality control procedures. Materials Selection and Specifications: Work with senior engineers to select appropriate construction materials and contribute to the development of material specifications. Project Coordination: Assist in project planning and coordination efforts, including resource allocation, scheduling, and meeting project milestones. Continued Learnings: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, advancements in civil engineering, and relevant technologies through workshops and professional development opportunities. Essentially required skills: Technical skills Proficiency in civil engineering design principles, including the ability to prepare engineering calculations and analyse various components of onshore and offshore infrastructure, such as pipelines, storage tanks, foundations, and platforms. Knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical investigations to assess soil properties and design stable foundations for oil and gas facilities. Understanding of structural analysis and design to ensure the integrity and stability of structures under different loading conditions and environmental factors. Knowledge of coastal engineering concepts, offshore construction techniques, and dealing with dynamic marine environments for marine infrastructure projects. Knowledge of material protections used in the oil and gas industry and techniques to prevent and mitigate corrosion in harsh environments. Exposure to construction material selection, quality control procedures, and construction management practices Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to create and analyse engineering drawings and models. Knowledge of Engineering Standards (Indian & International) Indian Standard Codes, viz. IS 800, IS 801, IS 803, etc. American Society of Civil Engineers, viz. ASCE 7, ASCE 37, etc. American Concrete Institute, viz. ACI 318, etc. American Institute of Steel Construction, viz. AISC 360, etc. American Petroleum Institute, viz. API 650, API 620, etc. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) ISO series, viz. ISO 19900, etc. Det Norske Veritas, viz. DNV-OS-C101, etc. British Standards, viz. BS EN 1991-4, etc. Norwegian Petroleum Directorate Regulations, viz. NORSOK N-001, etc. Other skills Well versed with Microsoft Office tools, viz. Word, Excel, Power point Desirable skills required: Good communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, management, and clients. Proficiency in relevant engineering software, such as any CAD tools, structural analysis software, and project planning tools. Proven experience in civil engineering, with a focus on onshore and coastal infrastructure projects in the oil and gas industry. Familiarity with geotechnical engineering, environmental regulations, and safety practices in the oil and gas sector.
