Role Description The Freelance Network Security Analyst will work on a part-time, on-site basis in Bhopal, focusing on the security of the universitys network and systems. Daily tasks include monitoring network traffic for unusual activity, reviewing logs, and identifying potential vulnerabilities or security incidents. The role involves conducting regular security assessments, assisting with configuration of firewalls and other security controls, and helping implement best practices for access control and data protection. The analyst will collaborate with the IT team to investigate and document security events, support incident response, and contribute to security policies, procedures, and awareness initiatives. The position may also involve occasional after-hours work for planned maintenance or response to urgent security issues. Qualifications Strong knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and secure network architecture.Experience with vulnerability assessment, penetration testing basics, and common security tools (e.g., packet analyzers, SIEM, endpoint security solutions).Understanding of operating system and application security for common platforms (such as Windows, Linux, and web applications).Familiarity with security standards and good practices (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001, NIST guidelines, data protection and access control policies).Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate incidents, interpret technical data, and recommend practical security improvements.Effective written and verbal communication skills to document findings and explain security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work independently on-site, manage part-time freelance engagements, and prioritize tasks in a live academic environment.Relevant education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; professional certifications (such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or similar) are an advantage.
