About the role
As a Director of Engineering at Autodesk, you will play a crucial role in leading engineering efforts for the Search initiatives within the Product Data Platform. Your responsibilities will include: - Defining and driving the vision and direction of Autodesks Search Platform in collaboration with the leadership team - Promoting technical excellence, innovation, and employee engagement at the site level - Leading the engineering efforts to build highly scalable, distributed, and data-intensive platform services - Mentoring, managing, and growing a high-caliber team of engineering managers and individual contributors - Spearheading engineering strategy and innovation in Search and Information Retrieval for complex Design and Make data ecosystems - Collaborating closely with product and platform leaders to define the strategic technical roadmap - Identifying and leading cross-functional opportunities and aligning engineering priorities with broader business objectives - Proposing new initiatives for organizational growth and advocating for appropriate resourcing and prioritization - Enhancing development standards through industry best practices and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning - Balancing short-term business goals with long-term engineering health Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience - 15 years of experience in software development, with a focus on building cloud-scale applications and services - 5 years of experience leading large, multi-level engineering teams - Proven success in engineering leadership roles with a strong track record of delivering complex projects - Deep expertise in building and managing large-scale, distributed systems - Strong understanding of software development methodologies, agile frameworks, and project management principles - Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making - Strategic mindset with the ability to align engineering initiatives with broader business objectives - Ability to attract, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering talent Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Search and Information Retrieval Systems - Expertise in building SaaS platforms on major cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure - Demonstrated ability to develop and execute technology strategies aligned with complex business domains - Proficiency in designing APIs using REST, GraphQL, or gRPC - Experience monitoring and improving the reliability of large-scale systems - Background in technical product management and experience in building product roadmaps - Familiarity with building scalable data and machine learning (ML) pipelines Autodesk is a company that celebrates real-world problem solvers, creative rebels, and innovators who are passionate about improving the world around them.
