Senior Principal Engineer

In this role as a Senior Principal Engineer for Search Infrastructure within Autodesk Platform Services, you will be responsible for: - Leading the software architecture and system design of highly scalable, distributed, data-intensive micro-services. - Partnering closely with product teams and leadership to define the strategic technical roadmap, communicate the strategy, and ensure its implementation. - Demonstrating high levels of ownership and accountability by working closely with engineering teams to consistently deliver results. - Aligning the technical direction with business needs, guiding the team in making decisions that balance short-term business opportunities with long-term technical vision. - Championing the adoption of industry best practices to elevate development standards within the team and across the larger organization. - Contributing to hiring and mentoring engineers to build fast-growing, high-performing teams. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience. - 15+ years of experience in leading the design of complex systems and hands-on development in Java and AWS. - 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership role for a large, distributed organization, designing systems that scale to millions of users. - Exposure to Information Retrieval with hands-on experience in Lucene, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch. - Familiarity with Vector Databases and ML Infrastructure. - Expertise in Cloud Infrastructure platforms like AWS. - Thorough understanding of Distributed Systems, including Scalability, Performance, Reliability, Security, and Consistency characteristics. - Experience in building multi-tenant SaaS architectures and advocating for a Platform and API-first mindset. - Proficiency in modern technology stacks, API design, microservices, stream processing, and designing for resilience and operational excellence. - Experience in monitoring and improving Reliability of complex systems at scale. - Exposure to managing Security and Compliance challenges in Cloud products and platforms.
