About the role
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer specializing in Machined Components, your primary responsibility will be to develop, optimize, and sustain machining and allied manufacturing processes throughout the supply chain. Key Responsibilities: - Develop, document, and release machining process plans, operation sheets, and control plans for both new and existing components. - Define cutting parameters such as speeds, feeds, and depths of cut, along with tooling strategies to enhance cycle time, tool life, and surface finish. - Evaluate and qualify cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and coolant systems sourced from both domestic and global tooling suppliers. - Drive improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce cost-per-piece. - Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) and visual work instructions in English and Tamil as required. - Create and optimize CNC programs using CAM software like Mastercam, Siemens NX CAM, or EdgeCAM for various machining processes. - Maintain tool libraries, offset sheets, and setup documentation for different machining platforms. - Provide support to machine operators and setter-operators during initial runs and process qualification. - Manage tooling inventory standards and negotiate contracts with suppliers based in Coimbatore. - Prepare capital justifications for new CNC machine tools, special purpose machines (SPMs), and automation cells, and work closely with Indian OEM vendors. - Lead machine installation, conduct geometric accuracy checks, perform machine run-off, and ensure capability acceptance. - Assist in plant-layout improvements and material-flow optimization projects. - Offer Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback during concept and development stages for OEM and export customers. - Support cost estimating and quoting for machined components within domestic and export supply chains. - Provide training and mentorship to ITI/Diploma operators, setter-operators, and junior engineers on machining best practices and safety measures. - Engage with customer plants located in Chennai, Pune, NCR, and export destinations to assess process capability and qualify parts. Requirements: - Bachelors degree (B.E. / B. Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited university. - 48 years of practical experience in a CNC machining or precision engineering manufacturing environment. - Proficiency in CAM software like Mastercam, NX CAM, EdgeCAM, or equivalent, and ability to write/edit G-code. - Strong familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). - Working knowledge of 2D/3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD. - Fluency in English and Tamil languages.
