Senior Contract Developer: SearchPoint

Qualifications

Education and Experience · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field of study and 5+ years of relevant IT experience. Role Description Reporting to the Senior Manager of ZTD Application Support, the Developer will design, develop, document, and deploy backend, database, and cloud-deployment solutions for the delivery of genomic laboratory testing and prediction products. The individual in this role will follow the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and work collaboratively with other developers, analysts, and business professionals. The ideal candidate will have proven technical ability along with excellent communication, analysis, and documentation skills. All candidates must have experience working in .NET-based back-end applications and SQL Server database development. Experience with distributed cloud applications is required. Experience with real-time analytics or columnar OLAP engines is desired but not required. Key Responsibilities · Develop and support cloud-based applications that deliver genomic analysis and reporting capabilities to Zoetis customers, including troubleshooting and defect resolution. · Analyze requirements and develop solution designs in collaboration with stakeholders. · Design, implement, and tune SQL Server schema, stored procedures, and indexing strategy in support of high-volume genomic and reporting workloads. · Contribute to ongoing modernization and re-architecture initiatives on the SearchPoint solution. · Build, configure, and operate Azure deployments of the SearchPoint solution across on-premises and Azure environments, including sovereign cloud. · Communicate requirements, expectations, and priorities effectively across teams and time zones. · Ensure that delivered solutions meet stated requirements and are unit tested prior to release. · Create and maintain system development lifecycle (SDLC) documentation.

Skills and Abilities

· Strong database skills, including fluency in SQL, relational database design, and query plan analysis. · Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. · Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. · Ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts across multiple functions. · Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision. · Ability to prioritize issues and drive progress in ambiguous situations. Technical Competencies · Proficiency in C# across both .NET Framework 4.x and modern .NET (5+). · Relational database development with SQL Server, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and SSDT database projects. · Experience on a Windows-based platform. · Strong understanding of data access patterns, including abstraction layers, query optimization, and report-level calculations. · Experience with RESTful API design, Web API, and EF6 or EF Core. · Experience developing and deploying on Microsoft Azure. Desired Competencies · Experience with real-time analytics or columnar OLAP engines such as Azure Data Explorer. · Experience with streaming ingestion (Event Hubs, Kafka, Kinesis) and immutable archive / bronze landing patterns. · Experience modernizing legacy applications, including framework, ORM, and Web API stack upgrades. · CI/CD tooling such as Git, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps. · Infrastructure-as-Code tooling such as Terraform or Bicep. · Containerization with Docker or Kubernetes. · Message-queuing platforms such as RabbitMQ, MassTransit, or Azure Service Bus. · Experience with large-scale data sets (multi-terabyte, multi-billion row). · JavaScript client development frameworks, such as Angular. · Bash and PowerShell scripting languages. · Experience on a Linux-based platform. · Sovereign-cloud deployment experience (e.g., Azure China / 21Vianet). · Prior professional or academic experience in genetics or bioinformatics.
