As an Assistant Vice President Software Engineer at Barclays, your role will involve spearheading the evolution of the digital landscape, driving innovation, and excellence. You will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Your key responsibilities will include: - Strong proficiency in Java and AWS cloud services. - Hands-on experience with Agile development, CI/CD automation, and automated testing frameworks. - Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture and microservices. - Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like CloudFormation and Terraform. - Familiarity with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana. Additionally, some highly valued skills may include exposure to React or other modern UI frameworks, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. The purpose of this role is to design, develop, and improve software utilizing various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues. Your accountabilities will include: - Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions. - Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers. - Promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. - Adherence to secure coding practices and implementation of effective unit testing practices. As an Assistant Vice President, you are expected to advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. You will lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives, and coach employees.
