About the role
As a Database Engineer at Barclays, you will play a crucial role in evolving the digital landscape and driving innovation. Your responsibilities will include: - Spearheading the evolution of digital offerings by utilizing cutting-edge technology to ensure unparalleled customer experiences. - Setting up and managing large-scale MongoDB databases as a Senior level MongoDB Database Administrator. - Demonstrating a strong understanding of MongoDB architecture, including replica sets, sharded clusters, and data distribution. - Proficiency in MongoDB database performance tuning and optimization techniques. - Implementing MongoDB backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery procedures. - Ensuring MongoDB databases are secure by implementing best practices and security features. - Executing database migration strategies at an enterprise scale. - Utilizing DevOps automation tools such as Code versioning (git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers, Kubernetes, and database CI/CD tools. - Serving as a technical escalation point for complex database issues as a recognized MongoDB subject matter expert. - Working with large, distributed, high-performance databases to maintain 24/7 uptime. - Having excellent spoken and written English communication skills. - Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred. - Experience in Data migration tools and software. - Implementing MongoDB Container patterns on Kubernetes using MongoDB operator or Helm charts. In addition to the technical responsibilities, you will also be involved in: - Developing, delivering, and maintaining high-quality infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements. - Monitoring IT infrastructure and system performance to address and resolve potential issues. - Implementing automated tasks and processes to enhance efficiency. - Ensuring secure configurations to protect infrastructure against cyber threats. - Collaborating with product managers and engineers to define IT infrastructure requirements. - Staying informed about industry technology trends and contributing to fostering a culture of technical excellence. - Advising decision making, contributing to policy development, and ensuring operational effectiveness.
