About the role
As a Senior Automation Engineer at Barclays, your role will focus on driving quality through test automation, scalable framework development, and end-to-end validation to contribute to multiple monthly releases. You will collaborate closely with BA, SA, Engineering teams, and stakeholders across Merchant Services to deliver high-performing solutions using agile delivery models. Your responsibilities will include understanding system benchmarks, identifying test coverages, and leading automation testing engineering initiatives. Key Responsibilities: - Proficiency in Java or JavaScript with strong coding practices, solid OOP knowledge, and experience with design patterns like Page Object Model. - Understanding of microservices architecture and system design. - Experience with Selenium for UI automation and API testing (REST/GraphQL) using tools like Postman or RestAssured. - Basic performance testing experience using tools like JMeter or Gatling. - Good knowledge of Git, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.), and familiarity with Docker and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure). - Strong test design and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to testing across UI, functional, and performance areas. Qualifications Required: - Candidates with experience in Banking / Payments domain preferred. - Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams. - Previous experience within the financial services industry. - Knowledge of web applications (REST / SOAP APIs) and databases like Oracle, SQL Server, and AWR analysis. - Familiarity with Performance testing in cloud environments, CI/CD integration (Jenkins, Git), and awareness of AWS environment. In this role, you will design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, continuously improve testing processes, and methodologies to ensure software quality and reliability.
