About the role
As a Senior Application Support Engineer at Barclays, you will play a crucial role in evolving the digital landscape and ensuring innovative and excellent customer experiences. Your responsibilities will include: - Providing technical support for the service management function to resolve more complex issues for a specific client or group of clients. - Developing the support model and service offering to enhance service to customers and stakeholders. - Executing preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software and utilizing monitoring tools/metrics to identify, prevent, and address potential issues for optimal performance. - Maintaining a knowledge base with detailed documentation of resolved cases for future reference and knowledge sharing. - Analyzing system logs, error messages, and user reports to identify root causes of hardware, software, and network issues and providing resolutions. - Implementing automation, monitoring enhancements, capacity management, and business continuity management. - Identifying and remediating potential service impacting risks and issues. - Proactively assessing support activities to maintain stability and drive efficiency through automation. - Collaborating closely with other functions and business divisions to advise and influence decision-making processes. Qualifications required for this role include: - Experience with Unix, Oracle-PLSQL, Java, Tomcat, Cloud-based solutions, APM tools (ITRS and/or APPD), and scheduling tools (TWS and/or Autosys). - Good communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. - Highly valued skills may include knowledge of virtual environments, private/public cloud concepts, any programming language, automation exposure, and Hadoop/Quantexa skills.
