About the role
As a Mechanical Designer at Barry-Wehmiller, you will be part of a global supplier of engineering consulting and manufacturing technology for various industries. You will play a crucial role in the New Product Development, Conceptual Design, Engineering Calculations, and Detailing for industrial machineries and equipment like Printing, Packaging, Converting, Textile, and Paper machineries. Key Responsibilities: - Design new product line variants and modifications of existing machines - Conduct engineering calculations and concept development - Create detailed designs, drawings, and release Bill of Materials using SolidWorks (2018 & above)/EPDM and Infor XA applications - Participate in testing, safety, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting reviews with customers - Perform risk assessments using techniques like DFMEA - Stay updated on industry developments related to client product lines Qualifications Required: - Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering - 4+ years of experience in Industrial Machineries and Equipment, with a preference for Printing, Packaging, and Converting Machines OEM - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Proficiency in mechanical engineering design principles, manufacturing processes, and engineering calculations - Experience in handling large assemblies using SolidWorks (2018 & above) - Knowledge of industrial machinery operations and material selection - Familiarity with FEA using SolidWorks simulation and Metric/Imperial (Inch) Design Standards - Ability to create and update functional specifications, perform value engineering, and optimize costs - Proficient in CAD modeling and detailing using SolidWorks, with experience in Creo and UG as a plus - Excellent understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis - Skills in providing innovative solutions for complex problems Mandatory Tool Skills: - SolidWorks version 2018 & above - EPDM 2018 & above - AutoCAD - MS Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) At Barry-Wehmiller, diversity and innovation are highly valued.
