About the role
We are looking for a skilled Application Database Administrator / RDBMS Developer with strong hands-on experience in SQL Server database administration, performance tuning, cloud databases, automation, and production support. The ideal candidate should have expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL development, query optimization, indexing, SSIS, database monitoring, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting. Experience with AWS cloud databases such as PostgreSQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, and DynamoDB is required. Exposure to Mainframe DB2 and VSAM will be a strong advantage. This role requires a candidate who can work closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, and DevOps teams to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing database environments. Role & Responsibilities - Administer, monitor, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases in production and non-production environments. - Develop and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and database objects. - Perform query optimization, indexing improvements, execution-plan analysis, and database performance tuning. - Handle database backup, restoration, recovery, replication, security, patching, and capacity-planning activities. - Work with SQL Server tools including SSMS, SQL Profiler, and related monitoring utilities. - Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot ETL processes using SSIS. - Support AWS cloud database platforms including AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB. - Work on database migration, modernization, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support activities. - Support Mainframe DB2 and VSAM database environments where applicable. - Create automation scripts using PowerShell, Shell scripting, or batch scripting for database maintenance and monitoring. - Collaborate with application developers, cloud engineers, infrastructure teams, and DevOps teams for database deployment and release activities. - Support CI/CD-based database deployments and follow database governance, security, and compliance standards. - Investigate production database incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures. - Prepare technical documentation for database configurations, performance improvements, maintenance procedures, and operational runbooks. Preferred Candidate Profile - 6-10 years of hands-on experience in Database Administration, SQL Server development, or RDBMS support. - Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server versions 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, or later. - Strong experience in T-SQL programming, stored procedures, query optimization, and performance tuning. - Hands-on knowledge of database architecture, indexing strategies, normalization, data modeling, backup/recovery, and high availability concepts. - Experience with SQL Server tools such as SSMS and SQL Profiler. - Hands-on experience in SSIS and ETL development/support. - Experience with AWS database services including AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB. - Knowledge of Mainframe DB2 and VSAM is highly preferred. - Exposure to Azure SQL, AWS RDS, cloud migration, and database modernization initiatives is desirable. - Experience with PowerShell, batch scripting, Shell scripting, and database automation. - Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated database deployment processes. - Solid troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. - Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical teams in a fast-paced production-support environment. .
