Frontend Architect DEPARTMENT Engineering REPORTS TO Head of Engineering EMPLOYMENT TYPE Full-time IC EXPERIENCE 810 years FUNCTION Frontend Platform About the Role BigFM is building a media super-app bringing together video, audio, radio, micro-drama, news and commerce on a single platform. We're hiring a Frontend Architect to own the technical architecture and long-term technical direction for our entire frontend and mobile surface spanning our React Native consumer app, admin portal, CMS and shared design system. This is a foundational, individual-contributor technical leadership role. You will define how a single codebase and design system scales across six content and commerce verticals, setting the technical direction that the wider Frontend Engineering team builds against. Key Responsibilities Define and own the frontend/mobile technical architecture across the React Native app, Admin Portal, CMS and internal tools Establish and evolve the shared Design System and component library used across all frontend surfaces Set technical standards, code quality bars and architectural guardrails for the Frontend Engineering team Make foundational technology decisions state management, navigation, module boundaries, build/release pipeline that keep engineers interchangeable across mobile, web and admin surfaces Partner closely with the Backend Architect and Platform Engineer to define clean API contracts and integration patterns Partner with the Tech Lead to translate architectural direction into a deliverable roadmap Conduct architecture and code reviews for high-impact changes Evaluate and introduce new frontend technologies and tools where they meaningfully improve velocity, performance or maintainability Own frontend performance, scalability and technical debt strategy as the platform scales beyond Phase 1 Required Qualifications 810 years of frontend/mobile engineering experience, including at least 23 years in a formal architecture or staff/principal engineering capacity Deep, hands-on expertise in React Native at production scale, plus modern React, JavaScript and TypeScript Proven experience architecting frontend systems that serve multiple products or surfaces from a shared codebase or design system Strong understanding of mobile app performance, state management patterns and cross-platform architecture trade-offs Experience building or scaling a design system / component library Comfortable operating as a high-impact individual contributor, leading through technical authority and influence Excellent communication skills able to document and evangelize architectural decisions to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike Preferred Qualifications Experience in a media, content or commerce super-app environment Prior experience at a high-growth startup building 01 platforms Familiarity with backend API design (GraphQL/REST) to enable strong full-stack architectural conversations Experience with CI/CD, build performance optimization and release engineering for mobile apps Compensation: 100,000.00 - 300,000.00 per month Benefits: Paid sick time Provident Fund Work Location: In person Frontend Architect DEPARTMENT Engineering REPORTS TO Head of Engineering EMPLOYMENT TYPE Full-time IC EXPERIENCE 810 years FUNCTION Frontend Platform About the Role BigFM is building a media super-app bringing together video, audio, radio, micro-drama, news and commerce on a single platform.
