Overview

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for a Senior Product Manager to support the delivery and modernization of mission-critical, web-based digital resources for a federal government client. This role is responsible for guiding product strategy and execution across complex, data-driven systems that serve a broad and diverse user base.

The Senior Product Manager will work closely with a Product Owner and lead collaboration across Engineering, User Experience (UX), Quality Assurance (QA), and client stakeholders to define priorities, refine the backlog, and deliver incremental product releases. This is a highly visible role requiring strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to execute tactically in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Customer Advocacy

• Lead cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and deliver product features and enhancements aligned with business objectives, user needs, and technical constraints

• Apply user research, usability findings, analytics, and stakeholder input to inform product decisions

• Act as a strong advocate for end users, ensuring their needs are clearly understood and reflected in product requirements

• Work with Business Analysts (BAs) to translate product vision and feature ideas into clear, actionable requirements, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and definitions of done

• Manage prioritization within an evolving roadmap, balancing near-term delivery with long-term strategy

Agile Delivery and Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner closely with the Product Owner to support backlog refinement and prioritization

• Work day-to-day with Agile teams (Engineering, UX, QA) to develop, iterate, and refine product capabilities

• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives

• Monitor delivered functionality and quality, proactively identifying issues and driving resolution

• Ensure alignment across internal teams and external stakeholders through clear communication and expectation management

Roadmapping, Planning, and Risk Management

• Establish and maintain product roadmaps, timelines, and release plans aligned with stakeholder needs and program goals

• Continuously assess risks related to scope, dependencies, technical feasibility, and resourcing

• Work with leadership to identify and remove delivery barriers, including technical or process challenges

• Coordinate across UX, Engineering, and Business teams to ensure appropriate staffing and sequencing of work

Metrics, Outcomes, and Continuous Improvement

• Define and track success metrics, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and outcomes to measure product effectiveness and user impact

• Use data and feedback to guide continuous product improvement

• Ensure delivered solutions align with target architecture, technology strategy, and long-term maintainability

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and quality

Preferred Qualifications

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • • 10+ years of experience supporting technical software or web-based product development

  • • 6+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner for digital products

  • • Experience launching multiple products or major features, including ongoing optimization and improvement

  • • Experience working on large, cross-functional initiatives in complex, policy- or data-driven environments

  • • Proven experience using user research, customer feedback, and performance data to guide product decisions

  • • Experience working with distributed or remote teams is a plus

  • Required skills and experience

  • • Strong understanding of human-centered design and its integration with Agile delivery

  • • Solid working knowledge of software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies

  • • Demonstrated thought leadership in modernizing digital products or platforms

  • • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and consensus-building skills

  • • Ability to synthesize and reconcile competing priorities and stakeholder perspectives

  • • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence

  • • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • • Clearance and Location Requirements

  • • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

  • • Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States; candidates in the DMV area preferred

  • • All work must be performed within the United States

  • We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and location. The targeted range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000.
