As a Staff Engineer - Mechanical Static Equipment at Black & Veatch Family of Companies, your role involves functioning as a technical specialist or in a lead role. You will be applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses with minimal supervision, continuing to build on knowledge to develop concepts and approach more complex engineering problems. Additionally, you may provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on projects of low to medium complexity and be responsible for developing, validating, and presenting specialist/technical output. Key Responsibilities: - Provide guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and B&V policies - Independently apply knowledge and comply with B&V quality program relative to assigned tasks - Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects - Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection - Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements - Actively delegate appropriate tasks to lower-level team members to develop depth of project execution staff - Review lower-level engineering work or assignments - Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects - Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on low to moderately complex projects - Recognized as a technical specialist and provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a particular practice area - Foster knowledge management and provide mentoring - Assist with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required - Mentor lower-level professionals and identify successors to train in the specifics of their role - Assist with resource management strategy - May have responsibility of engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline - Be accountable for some administrative responsibilities such as ensuring policies, procedures, and processes are effectively implemented and communicated for the work group, ensuring adherence to corporate and division programs, and approving timesheets and expense reports Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program - Minimum of 5 years related work experience - Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on moderately complex projects, provide technical guidance, and contribute to the overall success of the team.
