Manager - Testing &Commissioning

We are seeking a highly experienced Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Lead to head the commissioning activities for utility-scale solar EPC projects across multiple locations The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, grid synchronization, and handover of solar power plants, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, grid code requirements, safety standards, and contractual obligations. Key Responsibilities 1. Project Testing & Commissioning Leadership Lead and manage testing and commissioning activities for ground-mounted and rooftop solar projects. Develop commissioning plans, checklists, SOPs, and method statements aligned with project timelines. Ensure readiness of systems prior to commissioning including civil, electrical, and mechanical completion. Coordinate with project managers to align commissioning schedules with project milestones. 2. Electrical Systems Testing Expertise Oversee testing of: Solar PV modules and string monitoring systems Inverters (Central and String) HT/LT panels, transformers, and switchgear Protection relays and metering systems SCADA and communication systems Supervise pre-commissioning tests such as IR tests, continuity tests, polarity checks, functional checks, and relay calibration. Ensure successful grid synchronization and performance ratio (PR) validation. 3. Grid Compliance & Regulatory Coordination Ensure compliance with State and Central Grid Codes and DISCOM requirements. Coordinate with SLDC/DISCOM officials for grid connectivity approvals and synchronization permits. Facilitate inspections by Electrical Inspectorate and other statutory authorities. Ensure documentation and statutory approvals are completed prior to energization. 4. Quality & Documentation Control Maintain comprehensive commissioning documentation including: Test reports As-built drawings Commissioning certificates Warranty documentation Ensure all activities adhere to IEC, IS, and project-specific standards. Conduct quality audits during testing phases. 5. Team Leadership & Contractor Management Lead site engineers, commissioning engineers, and third-party testing agencies. Coordinate with OEMs for inverter, transformer, and SCADA commissioning support. Ensure contractor compliance with safety and quality standards. Provide technical training and mentoring to site teams 6. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination Project Management Team Align commissioning activities with overall project schedule. Identify and mitigate risks impacting project COD timelines. Engineering & Design Team Review SLDs, protection schemes, and control philosophies prior to execution. Provide feedback on design improvements based on site learnings. Procurement & Supply Chain Ensure timely availability of testing equipment and critical spares. Verify technical compliance of supplied equipment. O&M Team Ensure smooth handover post-commissioning. Provide performance data and system familiarization training. Qualifications Education: Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred). Experience: 10 15+ years in solar EPC projects with significant exposure to utility-scale commissioning. Languages: Fluent in English, Hindi, and regional language (preferred).
