About the role
As a Snowflake Developer at Boston Scientific, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing cloud-based data solutions on the Snowflake Data Cloud. Your main responsibilities will include: - Designing, developing, and maintaining Snowflake data warehouse solutions aligned with business and analytics requirements using DBT - Developing and optimizing Snowflake SQL, views, streams, tasks, and stored procedures - Building and supporting ELT/ETL pipelines for ingesting data from multiple source systems such as MSSQL, flat files, and APIs - Supporting data migration initiatives from on-prem or legacy databases to Snowflake - Implementing and managing Snowflake features such as clustering, micro-partitions, Time Travel, Zero Copy Cloning, and Secure Data Sharing - Collaborating with Data Architects, Business Analysts, and downstream consumers to translate requirements into technical solutions - Ensuring data quality, consistency, and governance throughout ingestion and transformation layers - Optimizing warehouse usage, query performance, and cost management - Supporting CI/CD and DevOps practices for Snowflake development - Troubleshooting production issues and providing ongoing operational support Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) - 4+ years of experience in data warehousing / data engineering - 3+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake - 2+ years of experience with DBT - Strong proficiency in SQL with experience in complex queries, performance tuning, and optimization - Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, Matillion, dbt, Azure Data Factory, Talend, or similar - Experience migrating data from Microsoft SQL Server or other relational databases to Snowflake - Solid understanding of data modeling concepts including dimensional, normalized, star/snowflake schemas - Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP - Experience with version control tools like Git In addition to the required qualifications, the following skills are preferred or considered nice-to-have: - Snowflake certifications such as SnowPro Core, Advanced Architect, or Developer - Experience with dbt, Python, or scripting for data pipelines - Knowledge of Global Sourcing, data governance, security, and compliance concepts - Exposure to DevOps automation and CI/CD pipelines - Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, or finance You are expected to have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, clear communication and documentation skills, and the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams. Comfort with fast-paced, multi-project environments is essential for this role.
