About the role
As an Applied AI Engineer at C2FO, your role involves leading the identification and rapid prototyping of AI solutions across the business, encompassing internal operations and customer-facing products. You will work closely with Senior and Principal engineers, department heads, and product owners to discover impactful AI opportunities, design and develop working prototypes, and translate them into scalable production-grade applications. Your responsibilities include: - Business Discovery: - Conduct structured discovery sessions to identify and scope AI opportunities with department heads and product owners. - Define clear problem statements, including data availability and constraints, before initiating any prototyping. - Rapid Prototyping: - Build functional proof of concepts (POCs) using suitable approaches such as RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, predictive ML models, or rule-based systems. - Develop prototypes that support genuine build-or-not decisions. - Stakeholder Management: - Serve as the primary technical contact for business stakeholders during discovery and POC phases. - Communicate trade-offs regarding accuracy, cost, and latency clearly and recommend against building when necessary. - Evaluation & Validation: - Establish success criteria before initiating development. - Design and execute evaluations suitable for the POC type and present findings in a non-technical manner for confident decision-making. - Technical Handoff: - Create comprehensive handoff documentation covering system design, data requirements, failure modes, and evaluation benchmarks for seamless transition to production. In terms of technical requirements, proficiency in Python, familiarity with SQL, and hands-on experience with large language models and generative AI tooling are essential. Additionally, qualifications for this role include 4+ years of experience in data science or ML, 2+ years working with large language models, and a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Soft skills such as stakeholder management, written communication, structured thinking, and the ability to translate technical outputs into business value are crucial for success in this position. At C2FO, diversity and inclusion are paramount, and as an Equal Opportunity Employer, we prioritize creating an inclusive workplace where every team member can contribute to our mission's success. Discrimination based on various factors is not tolerated, and all employment decisions are made based on qualifications, merit, and business needs.
