About the role
As a Deputy Manager IT with hands-on development experience, your role will involve a combination of software development and IT management responsibilities. You will be leading a team of IT professionals while also actively contributing to the development of high-quality applications. Your main responsibilities will include: - Designing, developing, and maintaining Java/Python/other language-based applications and services. - Writing clean, scalable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards. - Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. - Troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing existing applications for performance improvement. - Ensuring security, quality, and performance of applications through regular testing and code reviews. - Staying updated with new technologies and frameworks, applying them where necessary. - Working on the integration of front-end and back-end systems using RESTful APIs and other tools. In terms of IT management responsibilities, you will be expected to: - Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring smooth functioning of all systems. - Lead and mentor the IT team, providing technical guidance and professional development. - Coordinate and manage IT projects from conception to delivery, ensuring timely completion within scope. - Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards for operational efficiency. - Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and provide technical solutions. - Manage IT infrastructure including servers, networks, databases, and cloud platforms. - Ensure security of IT systems, manage risk, and monitor for potential vulnerabilities. - Maintain vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure third-party services meet organizational needs. - Effectively manage IT budgets and resources for cost-effective solutions and resource allocation. - Plan and execute disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Proven experience in Java development and other languages with at least 8 years of hands-on experience. - Familiarity with database technologies, web technologies, and cloud platforms. - Strong leadership and project management skills. - Knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, server management, and cybersecurity. - Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment. - Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred skills that would be advantageous include certifications in Java/Python development, experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, familiarity with ITIL or Agile project management methodologies, exposure to containerization technologies, automated testing frameworks, and IT security practices.
