As a SRE Manager at Canonical, your role involves leading a team in the APAC timezone and reporting to a global director. You will be responsible for managing operations engineers, customer service, managed services operations, and product improvement engineering. Collaboration with internal customers, product engineering, and development groups is crucial for success. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: - Leading your team in daily agile devops practices - Representing the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams - Organizing, coordinating, and driving internal projects - Mentoring engineers to enhance their skills - Identifying and measuring team health indicators - Implementing structured engineering and operations processes - Ensuring proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables - Working towards meeting service level agreements with customer deployments globally - Delivering quality managed services in a consistent, timely manner The qualifications we are looking for in you include: - Drive and a track record of exceeding expectations - Experience in software delivery using infrastructure as code - Managing devops teams for SAAS or similar offerings - Understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality - Technical aptitude for complex distributed systems - Experience with cloud topologies and technologies - Willingness to travel twice a year for company events - Strong academic track record from high school and university Additional skills that would be beneficial: - Experience with Ubuntu system administration - Familiarity with agile software development methodologies - Experience working in and managing distributed teams Canonical offers various benefits including: - Distributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in person - Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year - Annual compensation review - Recognition rewards - Annual holiday leave - Maternity and paternity leave - Employee Assistance Program - Opportunities to travel to new locations to meet colleagues - Priority Pass, and travel upgrades for long haul company events About Canonical: Canonical is a leading tech firm driving the global shift to open source.
