As an Endur Technology Engineer you are an Endur practitioner with a deep level of application and trading expertise. Endur Technology Engineers work within bp s Gas and Power Trading division on the core trading and risk management platform, Endur. You will bring knowledge of commodity trading and the use of ERTM systems to lead this activity. You will be familiar with both the business application of these technologies and the broad concepts behind Agile technology delivery and DevOps. bp operates a discipline-based organization and Endur Technology Engineers may be deployed to work in different areas of our business over time based your skills and experience and the business adoption of technology. European Gas Power (EGP) is part of bp s trading business based in Canary Wharf, London. It is front and centre in bp s plans to move away from Oil to a future of renewable energy. The gas business is a crucial element of this transition providing base load capacity and the ability to meet peak demand, while the power business is investing heavily in wind and solar. Their power strategy includes reaching 12GW of renewable power by 2030; which equates to one third of the UK s total current demand. Work as part of evolving multi-disciplinary teams which may include Software Engineers, Enterprise Technology Engineers, Designers, SecOps, and Product owners to deliver value through the application of specialist skills Work with vendors and partners providing market solutions to optimize the usage and value which can be delivered from the appropriate technology platform Ensure operational integrity of what you build, assuring operational compliance with architectural and security standards, as well as compliance and policy controls refined by Strategy. Define and document standard run books and operating procedures. Create and maintain system information and architecture diagrams. What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications) Experience testing Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems, such as Endur, including front-to-back process coverage Validated experience in both manual and automated software testing across sophisticated enterprise systems, with a track record of delivering high-quality results under tight achievements. Strong SQL skills for extracting, manipulating, and validating test data from relational databases, including the ability to write and optimise queries in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases Practical experience using Git (or similar version control systems) to lead code, track changes, and collaborate efficiently with development teams Hands-on experience with BDD frameworks (ex. SpecFlow, Reqnroll) for writing and accomplishing automated tests in a maintainable and scalable way Proficiency in test management tools (ex. Jira, Azure DevOps) and defect tracking systems to plan, track, and report on testing progress and defects efficiently Practical experience using development environments (ex. Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Rider) to run, debug, and maintain automated tests and related project code. Ability to design, complete, and document functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance (UAT) test scenarios to ensure comprehensive coverage of business requirements Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify, isolate, and document defects and work with developers to resolve them High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity in both testing outputs and supporting documentation Collaborative working style with experience partnering efficiently with multi-functional teams including developers, business analysts, project managers, and business participants Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise test documentation and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences. Understanding of energy trading business processes, such as trade bring together, risk reporting, and settlements, to align testing with business-critical workflows Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (ex. Jenkins, Azure DevOps) to support rapid release cycles and continuous quality assurance Exposure to performance, load, and stress testing tools and methodologies to ensure system stability and scalability Prior experience in large-scale enterprise environments with distributed teams across multiple time zones, demonstrating adaptability to varied working styles and communication methods Proven understanding of programming and scripting languages such as C#, Python, PowerShell, YAML, or Java Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and domain-specific business processes in fast-paced project environments Core Skills Expectations : Agile Core Practices - Understand and apply agile values and principles and core agility practices to the work of the team; including agile approach and focus on customer, product and team to generate value.
