About the role
A QA Manager ensures end to end product quality by leading QA teams, establishing quality processes, and driving continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include: Quality Governance: Define and enforce QA standards, processes, and quality strategies aligned with organizational quality frameworks. Team Leadership: Manage QA Leads and Engineers, allocate resources, mentor teams, and ensure efficient execution across all testing disciplines. Test Planning & Oversight: Review and approve test plans, scenarios, cases, and ensure comprehensive test coverage. Execution Management: Oversee functional, integration, regression, performance, and automation testing across all platforms. Risk & Defect Management: Identify risks early, lead defect triage, ensure timely resolution, and facilitate escalation when required. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, and program teams to communicate quality status, risks, and release readiness. Metrics & Reporting: Track and publish quality metrics like defect leakage, test coverage, and automation progress. Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements, increase automation maturity, and implement shift left practices. Compliance: Ensure adherence to enterprise standards and support audits and corrective actions. Roles & Responsibilities : 1. Quality Governance & Strategy Establish, maintain, and govern QA processes, methodologies, and standards aligned with enterprise quality frameworks (e.g., Caterpillar QMS). Ensure testing strategies and quality objectives align with organizational and product goals. Promote a culture of quality and customer focus across teams. 2. Leadership & Team Management Lead and mentor QA Leads, Test Engineers, SDETs, and automation teams. Oversee planning, allocation, and efficient utilization of QA resources across platforms (iOS, Android, Web). Conduct regular QA team meetings, triage calls, and cross team syncs. 3. Test Planning & Oversight Oversee creation, review, and approval of: Test plans Test scenarios Test cases Test summary reports Regression and automation coverage Ensure complete test coverage for functional, integration, end to end, performance, load, and API testing. 4. Execution Management Ensure proper execution of all testing phases, including manual, automation, regression, integration, and performance testing. Coordinate test environment setup, deployments, data preparation, and readiness. 5. Risk, Issue, & Defect Governance Identify risks early, define mitigation plans, and track their closure. Drive defect management practices, including defect triage and prioritization. Ensure escalation of critical blockers with clear and timely communication to leadership. 6. Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborate closely with: Development teams DevOps Product owners Program/Project Managers 7. Metrics & Reporting Define and report QA metrics (coverage, defect leakage, automation %, performance KPIs). Present quality dashboards to leadership and drive continuous improvement initiatives. 8. Continuous Improvement Strengthen QA processes, automation maturity, shift left testing, and quality engineering practices. Ensure QA teams are trained in new tools, technologies, and methodologies. 9. Compliance & Standards Ensure processes conform to enterprise Quality Management standards s Conduct periodic reviews, audits, and ensure corrective actions are implemented. 10. Vendor & External Team Coordination When working in multi vendor or partner scenarios (as seen in multiple CAT digital programs), ensure alignment of all QA deliverables and processes across vendors.
