About the role
As an experienced MS SQL Server Administrator at CGI, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server database environments to ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliability. Your key responsibilities will include: - Installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server (Standalone / Cluster) - Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and performing query and index optimization - Managing backup and recovery strategies, including regular restore testing - Implementing and managing high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication) - Performing patching, service pack installations, and version upgrades - Ensuring database security using role-based access control, encryption, and auditing In addition, you will be expected to: - Proactively monitor database health, disk space, CPU, memory, and I/O - Diagnose and resolve database-related issues in production and non-production environments - Work closely with application infrastructure and DevOps teams to resolve incidents and performance issues - Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, procedures, and recovery plans - Implement and enforce SQL Server best practices and company standards - Ensure compliance with security, data protection, and audit requirements Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field - Strong experience as an MS SQL Server DBA (SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 preferred) - Excellent knowledge of T-SQL, indexing, execution plans, and performance tuning - Hands-on experience with backup/restore, HA/DR, and database security - Experience working in 24/7 production environments - Good understanding of Windows Server - Hands-on experience with AWS RDS for SQL Server, including instance provisioning and configuration, automated backups and snapshots, and monitoring using CloudWatch - Familiarity with other AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM) - Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD pipelines involving database deployments At CGI, we are committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities and ensuring equal opportunities in the recruitment process.
