About the Rol eAs a Senior Software Engineer on the Platform Engineering team, you will design and build the core backend systems that serve as the foundation for Chargebee's products. You'll solve complex engineering challenges involving distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence while developing platform capabilities used across the organization. This role offers the opportunity to influence platform architecture, improve developer experience, and build systems that enable Chargebee to scale efficiently . What You'll DoDesign, build, and maintain highly scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boo t.Develop shared platform capabilities, reusable services, and engineering infrastructure that support multiple product team s.Drive architectural decisions focused on scalability, resiliency, observability, and operational excellenc e.Build reliable REST APIs, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven systems capable of operating at high scal e.Collaborate closely with Product Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and SRE teams to deliver robust platform solution s.Optimize application performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks across services, databases, and distributed system s.Contribute to cloud-native architecture initiatives and platform modernization effort s.Participate in production operations, incident reviews, and continuous reliability improvement s.Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices around system design, code quality, testing, and deploymen t. What You'll Br ingBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experienc e).4–8 years of professional software development experience with strong expertise in Java and Spring Bo ot.Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale backend applications and distributed syste ms.Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, software architecture, and system design principl es.Experience designing performant relational database schemas using MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar databas es.Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platfo rm.Strong understanding of API design, scalability patterns, fault tolerance, and performance optimizati on.Experience with monitoring, observability, debugging, and production operatio ns.Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills with the ability to independently drive technical initiativ es. Nice to HaveExperience working within Platform Engineering, Developer Productivity, or Infrastructure Engineering te ams.Experience with Kafka, messaging systems, and event-driven architectu res.Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technolog ies.Full-stack development experience using React.js or other modern frontend framewo rks.Experience building internal developer platforms, engineering tooling, or shared framewo rks.Familiarity with AI-powered developer workflows and modern AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or Gem ini.Experience working in a B2B SaaS environm ent.
