About the role
Role Overview: At CIBC India, as the Director of Data Modernization and Development, you will be responsible for leading and executing data application delivery. Your role will involve driving modernization initiatives, supporting cloud and data platform adoption, and ensuring alignment with the business strategy. You will play a crucial role in enabling a work environment that allows you to thrive in your position. Key Responsibilities: - Engage with business stakeholders to understand their needs, translate business problems into effective reporting and analytics solutions, and communicate insights clearly. - Lead the migration of all legacy reporting (SAS/SQL) to the cloud (Azure) and modernize BI and reporting infrastructure. - Lead operational efforts to support key business processes including ETL execution and automation for various product lines. - Support data and BI roadmap, aligning with business needs and emerging trends. - Champion the use of AI tools and techniques to accelerate and optimize the migration process. - Oversee the design, development, and delivery of key data assets and business intelligence solutions. - Lead modernization and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability. - Support data engineering, architecture, development, and optimization of data platforms (Azure, Databricks, etc.). - Lead complex analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable recommendations. - Implement and monitor data controls to ensure high data quality and compliance. - Ensure robust data governance, risk management, and compliance with enterprise standards. - Act as the primary liaison for technology development and partner with business leaders. - Mentor and develop technical teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Qualifications Required: - 15+ years of experience in data roles and BI delivery with direct exposure to business leaders and developing critical BI solutions. - 5+ years of people management experience. - Strong leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management abilities. - Proficiency in cloud (Azure) data platforms, modern data architectures, and creating BI data solutions. - Expertise in SQL, Python, Power BI, and other BI tools. - Deep experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other Azure tools. - Advanced knowledge of data engineering, analytics, and reporting. - Strong leadership and team development skills. - Innovative, adaptable, and proactive in delivering business value.
