About the role
As an experienced Battery & Container Design Engineering Manager, your role will involve leading the design, development, and deployment of advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will be responsible for battery pack engineering, containerized energy storage solutions, New Product Introduction (NPI), system integration, validation testing, and engineering team leadership. Key Responsibilities: - Battery Pack & System Design: - Lead end-to-end design of battery packs, modules, racks, and battery systems. - Define cell selection, configuration, protection philosophy, and electrical architecture. - Develop busbar design, interconnections, insulation strategies, and safety mechanisms. - Ensure compliance with performance, reliability, and safety standards. - Container & Mechanical Design: - Lead design and engineering of 20ft and 40ft BESS containers. - Develop optimized layouts, structures, and mechanical integration. - Ensure compliance with IP ratings, thermal management, and environmental requirements. - Design HVAC integration, airflow management, and heat dissipation systems. - NPI & Product Development: - Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) from concept through production. - Define product requirements, validation plans, and development milestones. - Ensure seamless transition from prototype to mass production. - Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) practices. - Testing, FAT & SAT: - Plan and oversee electrical, thermal, environmental, and safety testing. - Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). - Ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards. - Drive closure of observations, non-conformities, and corrective actions. - System Integration: - Integrate battery systems with BMS, PCS, HVAC, EMS, and auxiliary systems. - Define cable routing, interconnections, and system architecture. - Ensure safe, reliable, and optimized system performance. - Engineering Leadership: - Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams. - Conduct design reviews and approve engineering deliverables. - Ensure timely execution of projects and engineering milestones. - Vendor & Manufacturing Coordination: - Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners. - Resolve design, production, and quality-related issues. - Support production ramp-up and continuous improvement initiatives. Educational Qualification: - B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline. Preferred Experience: - Experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Energy Storage, EV Battery Systems, Renewable Energy, or Power Electronics. - Strong understanding of battery technologies, thermal management, and system integration. - Experience in leading product development and engineering teams.
