Java Backend Engineer

As a highly skilled and hands-on Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-quality software solutions while adhering to best-in-class engineering standards. Your role will involve system design, hands-on coding, and problem-solving to create resilient, high-performing, and secure applications. Key Responsibilities: - Develop clean, maintainable, and testable code following SOLID principles and software design best practices. - Ensure high levels of unit test coverage, test-driven development (TDD), and behavior-driven development (BDD). - Contribute to hands-on coding, code reviews, and refactoring to maintain high engineering standards. - Follow trunk-based development practices for continuous integration and rapid delivery. - Monitor and control all phases of the development process and provide user and operational support on applications to business users. - Operate with a limited level of direct supervision. Engineering Excellence & Best Practices: - Apply modern engineering practices such as Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD. - Utilize Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), Test-Driven Development (TDD), and unit testing for code quality and functionality. - Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices in readability, performance, and security. - Follow secure coding practices, perform vulnerability assessments, and ensure compliance with security standards. - Collaborate effectively in agile environments, embracing DevOps principles and fostering a culture of continuous delivery and improvement. Qualifications Required: - 7-10 years of relevant experience. - Strong hands-on experience with Java J2EE and Spring based technology stack. - Hands-on experience with Kafka. - Good understanding of Apache Camel. - Proficiency in SQL and Oracle database. - Expertise in system design and microservices architecture. - Familiarity with Active/IBM MQ is highly desirable. - Experience with trunk-based development, feature flags, and progressive delivery strategies. - Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. - Experience in conducting code reviews, vulnerability assessments, and secure coding. - Familiarity with modern cloud-native technologies such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker. - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments. - Strong communication and collaboration skills. Good-to-Have Skills: - Experience with event-driven architecture and distributed systems. - Knowledge of performance tuning, observability, and production monitoring. - Familiarity with Agile frameworks and modern ways of working in product development. - Knowledge of SWIFT messaging (ISO 15022/20022). - Knowledge of Messaging systems like Tibco EMS.
